Darwin "Rusty" Parker Byrom

Darwin Parker “Rusty” Byrom, 85, of Merkel, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Hendrick Hospice Care Center in Abilene. Darwin was born to Samuel Lloyd Byrom and Ada Ruth (Lee) Byrom on March 29, 1934 in Coffee County Tennessee. In 1955 Darwin moved from Tennessee to Snyder and began working at the Snyder Ice House for a short time. He then went to work for Wes-Tex Drilling where he retired from after 30 years. After retirement the family moved to Merkel. Darwin is survived by his wife Hazel Pauline Byrom; son Michael Darwin Byrom and wife Kelly of Merkel; daughter Kimberly Diane Clement of Merkel; grandchildren David A. Clement of Abilene, Casey J. Clement of Abilene, Hayley R. Byrom of Clyde, Parker A. Clement of College Station, Rebecca C. Clement of Merkel, and Colton M Byrom of Lubbock; one great grandson Kane E. Purlee of Clyde; brother Rayburn H Byrom of Snyder; nephews Samuel and Matthew Byrom. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Ada Ruth, and by a brother Arthur Lloyd Byrom. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM Friday, October 11, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
