Alice Delia Ward Griffin, 80, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at Hendrick Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1939 in Mitchell County, Texas. She is the daughter of L.E. Ward and Florene (Pilkington) Ward.
Alice graduated from Colorado City High School, class of 1957. She was married to the late J.L. Crownover and they had 2 children. Later in her life, she met and married Jimmy R. Griffin and resided in Abilene, TX until her death. She had many occupations over her life, but retired from Texas Instruments.
She loved to go crappie fishing, boating, camping, and traveling. She loved to ride the train in Colorado. Alice loved the Grand Ole Opry. Alice loved to listen to polka music, such as Mollie B.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, J.L. Crownover; her parents L.E. Ward and Florene (Pilkington) Ward; a stepdaughter, Norine Freeman; and a great granddaughter, Kyleigh Caldwell.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Griffin; her sister Opal Hazard and her husband Mike; her son and daughter in law, Jimmy Dale and June Crownover of Marion, Tx; a daughter, Debra Jan Caldwell of New Braunfels, Tx; a step-daughter and her husband, Renea and Jerry Mitchell; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22nd, 2019 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel, TX from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 23rd, 2019 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel, Tx at 2 P.M. Officiating the service is Mr. Rodney Hamon. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Tx.
