Ronny Doan

Ronny Doan of Merkel, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Abilene, Texas, at age 79. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Merkel.

Ronny was born in Blair, Texas to his parents Erma Fay Campbell (Maw) and Virgil Lee Doan (Paw/Doc) on December 31, 1944. He attended Merkel Independant School District. He married his very best friend, the love of his life for 58 years, Patricia Ann Smith July 9th, 1965, in Merkel, TX. He worked at Taylor Electric Cooperative for 34 years and retired as Assistant Manager. He served as Justice of Peace for Precinct 2 for 14 years and was a barber for 48 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Merkel where he was active on numerous boards and committees. He served as a Board Trustee, Vice President, and President on the Merkel School Board for many years, was a member of the Lion’s Club, and he was recognized for the leadership award in Texas Rural Electrification. Some of the many things he enjoyed were camping, taking his grandchildren on birthday trips, travelling the world, going on cruises, and anything that involved his family.

Ronny is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Lee Doan and Erma Fay Doan. His brothers, Vaughn and Wallace Doan, and his sister Ann Derington.

Ronny is survived by his loving wife Ann Doan, his children Samuel Klint Doan, Ronny Kyle Doan, and his wife Becca Doan. His grandchildren Parker Doan, Randi Doan, and her fiancé Christian Deal, Darbi Perry, and her husband Luke Perry, Madison Doan, Blaine Doan, and Kyler Doan. One great grandchild Londyn Perry. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers Parker Doan, Greg Doan, Todd Smith, Kenneth Wood Jr, Marcus Malone, and Delbert R. Russell. Honorary Pallbearer's are Blaine Doan, Kyler Doan, Garth Doan, Danny Malone, Finley Barnett, David Thomas, Gary Smith, and Kenneth Wood Sr.
