Roland Steve Pack, 77, of Conway County, Arkansas passed away February 5, 2024 at his home doing what he loved to do the most, hunting.
Roland was born June 4,1946 near Hico, Texas to Hazel May Huxford and Lester Wayne Pack.
As a young child his family moved throughout Texas and New Mexico for work. Later they settled in Merkel, Texas where he completed his schooling. In 1965, he met Becki Gladden at the Texaco station where he was working. A friendship started then a romance and marriage on June 10, 1967. Roland and Becki had two children Chad and Jill.
Soon after his marriage Roland started working for Taylor Electric as a lineman and in 1978, he accepted a job in Bayfield Colorado with La Plata Electric. He had 47 years in the electric line business and he loved every minute of it. He commented often about how much he liked his job.
Roland loved hunting anything and he worked hard at it. He spent many a day archery hunting for elk, bear, deer and turkey in the mountains of Colorado. He moved his family to Colorado and it was a grand adventure for all. Roland enjoyed the 43 years he lived there. Colorado was a very special place for him. In 2021 Roland and Becki moved to Conway County, Arkansas to be near their daughter and grandchildren Roland was a good Christian man, wonderful husband and daddy, and a hard worker. He provided well for his family.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earnest (Pee Wee), Johnny Dayne, Lewis, and Duke and his sisters Donnie May and Bonnie Fay.
He is survived by his wife Becki, son Chad Pack (Stephanie) and daughter Jill Pack. Grand Children Dustie Harris (Logan), Rhett Turner (Faith), Isabella Pack, Chase Pack and great granddaughter Emersyn Rae Turner. Brothers: Ray Pack, Larry Pack (Dianne), and Dwayne Pack (Suzy). And his best friend and hunting partner for over 50 years, Charlie Chick from Durango, Colorado.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Darren Pack, Destry Pack, Jason Pack, Chris Pack, Cutter Pack, Cody Pack and Dayne Pack.
Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 6 -8 p.m. at Starbucks Funeral Home. Funeral services will held 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 13 at the Merkel Church of Christ with Lou David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas.
Memorials may be given to Rose Hill Cemetery Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
