Mary Acuña Biera was born March 25, 1940 in Trent, Texas to José Acuña and Rafaela Garcia Acuña. She grew up in Trent, Texas where she attended school and moved to Merkel, Texas to raise her family. She was a proud, dedicated housewife and raised ten children. Mary enjoyed going for walks, volunteering, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her family. She loved watching talk shows, cooking for her family, and helping out anyone she could. No matter what the activity was, she was always up for anything as long as she was able to spend time with her family. As long as she was able, she was on the go. She was a strong-willed, smart and a funny woman who loved everyone and made everyone feel like family. She is very loved and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents José Acuña and Rafaela Garcia Acuña; her sisters Elvira Acuña Biera, Socorro Rosas and Ida Acuña; her brother Jesse Acuña; her husband Manuel Biera Sr.; her children Patsy Adams, Manuel Biera Jr., Robert “Bobby” Biera, Charles “Chuck” Mayo; and her granddaughter Sarah Biera.
Mary is survived by her brothers Fernando Acuña and Felix Acuña; her children Richard Biera, Chris Biera, David Biera(Martha Biera), Amanda Mayo, Adam Biera (Abel Silva), Lisa Biera, Krystal Balvantin, and Joe Adams; her grandchildren Brandon Adams, Patricia Biera (Cindy Biera), Molly Biera, Amy Biera; Kayla Mayo, MacKenzie Mayo, Maranda Mayo; Anthony Biera; Monica Rediker (Alex Rediker), Haleigh Biera, Rebecca Biera; Khloe Balvantin, Matthew Balvantin, and Alex (Rue) Moreno; great grandchildren, Anthony Biera Jr. and Madelynn Rediker; and numerous extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Matt Balvantin, Alex (Rue) Moreno, Abel Silva Biera, Garrett Hubbard, Ally Bales, and Cedric Brooks.
Visitation will be 5 pm - 7 pm Monday April 22, 2024 at Starbuck Family Funeral Home in Merkel, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Starbuck Family Funeral Home in Merkel, Texas. Burial will follow at Rose Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to a lunch after Starbuck Family Funeral Home Reception Hall. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Family Funeral Home.
